Quantum Balance

Finding balance through climbing and beyond...

"Our physical and spiritual senses and abilities are God-given, in part so we can experience time, space, and physicality, including the stunning, revitalizing beauty of our physical world and environment."

-Gerrit W. Gong

"Oh, these vast, calm, measureless mountain days, inciting at once to work and rest! Days in whose light everything seems equally divine, opening a thousand windows to show us God. Nevermore, however weary, should one faint by the way who gains the blessings of one mountain day; whatever his fate, long life, short life stormy or calm, he is rich forever."

-John Muir, My First Summer in the Sierra

The Quantum Climbing Philosophy

1.

Act (Climb More)

When it comes to climbing, do it. Do more or it. Whether you're 9 or 90, whether it's a ladder or a trail, just move up. Defy gravity. More than that - defy whatever it is that holds you back or says "you can't." The best way to do this is to act.

2.

Rest (Climb Less)

Also, climb less. Slow down. Recover. Heal. More than climbing, find rest and healing by seeking peace and calm, in body, mind, and spirit. To rest is also to act.

3.

Observe (Watch others climbing)

Climbing isn't just about you. In every sense you are dependent on others, and they on you. More than just in climbing, observation in life is most effective when you choose to slow down, and rest, and is thus an action and a natural path from noise to understanding.

4.

Learn (Climb better)

Improving your climbing game is about a conscious effort to balance physicality, emotion, and resolve - in the same way, our day-to-day needs to be enhanced with the highest levels of learning, and the choices we make as to the knowledge we desire to gain. Climbing is a great place to start!
